Looking up the mountain on the way up Cactus to Clouds
This past weekend some buddies and I decided to try tackling Cactus to Clouds again. Last year around the same time we tried it and by the time we got to the tram we were exhausted and there was enough snow that I worried about ice on the way down from the top, or at least that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it! This year was successful and eventful. We started much earlier in the morning at 3am. It took us 7 hours vs the 9 hours it took to get to the tram last year. The weather also gave us a little bit of a beating on the way up from the tram and down from the top, enough so that I was starting to have frost bite in my fingers by the time we made it back down to the tram, a learning lesson for sure. My buddies and I all exclaimed that we would never do this again once we got back to the tram, but several days later I’m already thinking about the next time I get to tackle this beast.
