Recently a company contacted me about trying their product and I thought it would be a good fit for my readers. Nutberg is a company that makes drinkable meals. Being in the fitness business I’ve had a lot of experience with liquid meals over the years. One thing about almost all of them is the fact that the lay man ( or women ) would not understand half of the ingredients that are listed for these products, it can sometimes look like a chemical cocktail, not necessarily something that you want to stick into your body on a regular basis.
As you can see from a closer look at the ingredients, there is nothing in there that is not natural. I usually don’t think about vegan meals as I do enjoy a good steak, but being in the fitness business and living in an area like San Diego I know there are a lot of vegans out there and sometimes it can be hard to find a meal that will fit into your lifestyle, this could be a good product to check out.
So how does it taste? I think it tastes great. Now I know there is a big difference between what westerners here in the USA expect to taste in a product (sweet, salt, fat) and what you may taste in other foods from around the world, I have found that most sweets from Europe have a understated sweetness when compared to comparable American products, my wife has even told me that she lost weight when visiting in Europe just because she did not like the sweets over there. Keeping that in mind I find the taste of Nutberg to be ( surprise ) Nutty ! Not overly sweet, with more like hints of chocolate or banana in their corresponding flavors rather then a full on wallop of flavor. In fact they all taste similar to me, but again I think that is because of my American taste buds. I think that most people that try this product will find it enjoyable.
So what in the world does this have to do with hiking. I personally like to have different foods to eat when I go hiking. For hikes that I am familiar with I might only bring a food bar and an apple, while other longer hikes or areas that I am not familiar with I may bring more substantial amounts of food for fuel. I think this could be a good food source for longer hikes or backpacking trips, especially if you have a vegan life style. This product is pretty fulfilling and not something that I would necessarily need for shot hikes but I can see it being another handy food source if you like long hikes and or backpacking trips. But don’t take my word for it, check it out and see for yourself.
As a special for my readers Nutberg has offered an extra 5 meals when you type in IHIKE into the comment section when ordering.
